Migun Massage

Migun is a Korean word that means beautiful health, which is a goal the Migun bed aims to achieve with the use of acupressure, acupuncture, heat therapy, massage, and spinal adjustments.

What is a Migun Bed?

At Boulevard Natural Wellness Center, we offer treatments that blend Western and Eastern approaches to wellness. The Migun bed is the perfect example of the two coming together.

Migun beds are inspired by the practice of chiropractors and promote alignment of the spine to relieve nerve impingement.

Using your body weight, the Migun bed provides gentle acupressure and acupuncture, which is designed to stimulate specific areas of the body to improve chi or the flow of energy. Acupressure and acupuncture can also improve circulation, relieve stress, and increase energy levels.

In addition to offering spinal adjustments, acupressure, and acupuncture, the Migun bed also includes heat therapy. Intended to target muscles and cell tissue, the far-infrared rays can boost cellular performance and ease pain.

Massage is the penultimate treatment incorporated in the Migun bed. This form of touchless massage uses jade heads to not only massage muscles but stretch the spine. Jade not only makes for an effective massage, but it’s a conductor of the far-infrared heat rays used in Migun beds.

These five treatments combined complement one another for the most effective results, even in just 35-minute sessions at Boulevard Natural Wellness Center.

What Migun Beds Treat

Many patients undergo Migun bed treatments for the following ailments:

  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Stress

The Migun bed is an ideal therapy for encouraging and promoting both mental and physical wellness in patients.

Benefits of Migun Beds

Whatever has brought you to the table, the benefits of the Migun bed include improved alignment and reduced nerve interference. The patented technology is approved by the FDA as a Class II medical device and other benefits include:

  • Improved lymphatic circulation
  • Reduced muscle spasms
  • Improved blood pressure
  • Blood glucose regulation
  • Improved digestion
  • Better bladder function
  • Improved respiratory function

Some patients also see improvements in their hair and nail growth as a result of stimulated circulation. Results vary, but Boulevard Natural Wellness Center recommends at least twice weekly treatments to get the most out of this modality.

Contraindications

While the Migun bed is approved for use by many individuals, there are some contraindications. Anyone living with the following conditions may want to seek other treatment.

  • Blood clots
  • Bone fractures
  • Fused spinal discs or vertebrae
  • Fever
  • Malignant tumors
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pregnancy

Additionally, Migun beds are not recommended for people currently undergoing cancer treatment, or who have had surgery in the last six months. If you currently take blood thinners, you may experience bruising on your skin after your Migun bed massage treatment.

How to Prepare for Migun Bed Therapy

Before making an appointment, talk with your medical provider to ensure this is the proper treatment for you. Other than approval from your doctor, there isn’t much you need to do to prepare.

We do recommend being well hydrated before and after your treatment, and that you wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing to your Migun appointment. You will remain fully clothed during the treatment, which lasts 35 minutes per session.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE MASSAGE

Migun massage concentrates on the lower back and tailbone, so be prepared for the table to work more aggressively in these areas. If you experience any discomfort, be sure to request additional padding to make the treatment more enjoyable.

If the full body massage (both upper and lower combined) is too intense, you can request that the Migun bed only offer one or the other for your session. You may need to work your way up to full-body.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE HEAT

The temperatures used by the Migun table range from 104 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. There will always be a buffer between your body and the jade heat projectors to prevent injury. If the heat is overwhelming at any time, be sure to ask for an adjustment during your treatment.

Improvement Reactions

As your body adjusts to the first few visits, you may experience some sensations as a result of the treatments working on your body. While, overall, the sensations of the actual Migun bed are pleasant there may be “improvement reactions” to follow.

Improvement reactions are the body’s response to the combination of acupressure, acupuncture, spinal adjustment, heat, and massage. They may take the form of headaches, dizziness, or nausea. If any of these improvement reactions concern you, don’t hesitate to reach out to Boulevard Natural Wellness Center to discuss them.
